Colli Euganei
The Colli Euganei are a group of hills of volcanic origin characterised by extremely varied shapes and heights.
The massif rises, almost in isolation, on the central Venetian plain, to the south-west of Padua, occupying an area with a roughly elliptical perimeter of almost 22,000 hectares.
The territory is protected as the Parco regionale dei Colli Euganei which, established in 1989, became the first regional park in Veneto.

The place name "Colli Euganei" was coined rather late (between the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries), taking its cue from the Latin adjective Euganeus which, while originally referring to the Euganei, a very ancient people who occupied the area before the arrival of the Veneti, was later used as a learned term with the meaning of "Paduan".
