Arquà Petrarca

Arquà Petrarca is a medieval village that preserves unchanged the charm of times past and is considered the pearl of the Colli Euganei.

Inhabited since Roman times, it gained importance after Francesco Petrarca, the supreme poet of the Italian language, wished to spend the last years of his life in the characteristic serene quiet of the place. The village preserves his house and his tomb with his remains. The appeal of the poet’s memory encouraged, in the following centuries, the rise of houses and villas of many Venetian families, which today constitute an artistic and architectural heritage worthy of being visited and revisited with reverent attention.

The recent works, whose efforts have been aimed at the conservation and enhancement of the historical and natural heritage, have borne fruit, and today the Town of Arquà Petrarca has been admitted to the select club of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy and has received the designation of Orange Flag of the Touring Club. Beyond the historical and natural aspect, considerable investments have also been made in the promotion of local products, in particular Olive Oil, which has led the village to join the National Association of Cities of Oil.
The village is twinned with the French town of Fontaine de Vaucluse
